The National Institute of Dance Medicine
At the RNOH we have developed a great deal of expertise in treating dance related injuries and pathologies. We are the lead musculoskeletal unit for the National Institute of Dance Medicine. We are able to involve a multidisciplinary team, including specialist dance physiotherapists, sports physicians, orthotists and orthopaedic surgeons, to treat the foot and ankle complaints of many of the nations dancers from amateur to elite level.

In the foot and ankle unit, we believe that it is important to treat you as an individual. We recognise that patients may be treated with a variety of surgical and non-surgical methods.
This is the reason that we promote a multidisciplinary, team approach, that will provide you with the best possible care, tailored to your needs. We work closely with our network of professionals across a number of disciplines such as physiotherapy, podiatry, orthotics and other medical specialties such as radiology, and rheumatology, in order to provide the best care that is appropriate to you.
Education and Research
The Foot & Ankle Unit at the RNOH aims to educate, and promote best practice in the management of foot and ankle disorders, we pride ourselves on consistently being the leading teaching hospital in the UK; over 50% of Orthopaedic surgeons in England are trained at the RNOH. We are very involved in education on a local and national level, teaching Orthopaedic Surgeons, General practitioners, Nurses, physiotherapists, Podiatrists, Orthotists and other health-care professionals. We run the internationally recognised Stanmore Foot and Ankle Course annually, which promotes best practice amongst consultant surgeons and senior trainees.
